This is an update on my hard-fought attempt to run xdmcp on CentOS. I'm continuing to experiment with my two computer network. The host PC is running xdmcp on CentOS 5. The user PC (laptop) is running also running CentOS 5. I've not seen it mentioned anywhere, but you have to explicitly open ports 177 (udp) and 6000-6005 (tcp) to get xdmcp to work.
